Values That Drive Us
The Importance of God's Word
God uses His Word to teach us all spiritual truth, and to point us to the Good News of His salvation. Therefore, we are driven to learn it and live it by God's grace, and then to share it with others in our community, in homes, in small groups, and in our Sunday Gathering.
The City of Reading
We enjoy the challenges and blessings of a city, and we know that God cares deeply about each person who lives there. Therefore, we are driven to be involved and invested in the lives of people in our city.
The Love of God
God demonstrated amazing love for us by sending His Son to die for our salvation. Therefore, we are driven to grow personally in our love for Christ, and to love people as He does. Foundational to our ministry is building relationships where people can travel life together, and where we can serve and love each other.
The Ministry of Discipleship
In the gospel accounts Jesus gave us the model of cultivating depth in His followers. In Acts and the New Testament letters we see this same commitment. Therefore, we are driven to take people wherever they are in life, and to follow an intentional plan of discipleship that will help them learn the big story of the Bible, how to study God's Word for themselves, how to share it with others, how to live a life of obedience and victory, and finally how to help others walk the same path.
The Privilege of Prayer
Learning how to communicate with the true and living God is a mystery and an adventure. It is a door that leads to a personal relationship with God, and through which we see God answer needs for ourselves, others, and the community. Therefore, we are driven to prioritize prayer into our personal lives and into our church experience, and to watch God work in ways that are beyond human accomplishment.
Our Invitation
Our church has a burden from God for the city of Reading, and a growing love for the people of our city. We believe that local churches are God’s avenue to share his amazing message of hope. With this belief in heart, in October 2017 we launched a new multi-ethnic church for English speaking people. Many churches have left Reading over the last couple of decades, but we have intentionally come to the city.
Our new ministry is a partnership with Pastor Tony Perez and Iglesia Bautista Betania (Bethany Baptist Church). Pastor Tony and Pastor Dave have been praying for several years with a number of pastors from the Reading area about the need for a new English speaking church in Reading. Door of Hope Church is the result of these prayers, and the efforts of our leadership team since June 2016.
We want to extend an invitation to you. We are praying for God to send us people who also have a burden for the city of Reading, and who share our beliefs and commitments. We desire to have more people involved who will help carry God’s message of hope to our needy city.
